Opening Keynote - Building your Rickabamboo and other Leadership Lessons from The Princess Pat

10/19/2022 9:15 AM
There’s a beloved camp song that holds several lessons about leadership and the essentials that a leader must take in order to succeed. This keynote elevates what we can learn from “The Princess Pat”, deciphers exactly what she took, and encourages us to look inward and at our past in order to prepare for the journey ahead.

Connect the Dots: Effective Communication, Time Management, and Wellbeing

10/19/2022 10:45 AM
Our inner being is directly connected to our outward doing. Mindset and wellbeing impact how effectively we manage our time and communicate with others. Since reflection is the process through which we assess the connection between our inner and outer experiences, this session will reveal three valuable questions that encourage us to consider how we can be our best for ourselves and for those around us.

Partnership in Accreditation – Helping you get organized for your 2023 on-site accreditation visit

10/19/2022 10:45 AM
Being visited in 2023? New to accreditation? Do you really know what mode of operation you are? Overwhelmed? You have questions, we have answers. Standard visitors are here to help you organize for your next on-site visit. We’ll show you various methods of how people organize their materials, where to find helpful resources on the ACA web site, why highlighters and highlighting are your friends, and be a resource for you. Be ready to learn and share as we demystify organizing for accreditation. Camps being visited need to have at least one staff member take the Accreditation Process Workshop.

Location: Honor Cabin

Anne Weinberg is the current Heart of the South Standards Chair, answering standards questions year-round. She has been a standards visitor for 25 years and is a standards instructor. Her camp background is mostly in resident camps and camps serving rental groups including medical camps.

10/19/2022 2:15 PM
Let’s discuss the ways you can grow your weekend and off season rentals and special even programs. We made money with our first ever drive-thru winter light display, and you can make money in December too. In 7 years we’ve also taken our camp pool rentals from 10 a summer to over 100 in 2 years! We all need to make money when camp isn’t running, now more than ever, join me in discussing some successes I’ve had in the last few years.

Location: Josephine's Lodge

Kevin Pettigrew moved to 4-H residential camping after a 12 year career with YMCA day camps in 3 states. He currently oversees a small team of year-round staff who help facilitate year-round rentals including pool rental growth of 90 new rentals in 1 year. He also created an all new December program “Winter WonderCamp” lighted drive-thru to generate revenue this past December with great community engagement.
