The Path to Disability Inclusion

Thursday, November 05, 2026 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM Eastern Standard Time

Camp should be a place where every child feels like they belong. Inclusion starts well before the first day, with the very first conversation between a camp and a family. This interactive session provides participants with a practical pathway to welcoming children with disabilities, from initial contact through the first morning at camp.

You'll explore four guiding principles that shape inclusive programs, practice asking families respectful, strengths-based questions, and discuss how to plan accommodations together. You'll also work through a real-world scenario with your peers. You'll leave with ideas you can share with your camp staff right away, plus an Inclusion Checklist with instructions to support your next steps.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the four guiding principles of inclusion and explain how each one shapes the way camp programs welcome children with disabilities.
  2. Identify respectful intake and family-partnership practices for gathering the information needed to plan accommodations and prepare for a smooth transition into camp.

This webinar is presented by KIT (Kids Included Together).
