DESCRIPTION: Each year camps across the country are faced with the challenge of keeping campers and staff healthy while living and working in close quarters. Come learn from medical experts and longtime camp staff to help you put best practices in place to help keep your campers and staff healthy and participating in camp activities.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
By the end of the webinar participant will:
- Learn what can be done before camp begins to reduce the likelihood of an outbreak.
- Learn what good practices to put in place that help minimize the spread of illness.
- Learn how to handle an outbreak on camp.
PRESENTER BIOS:
Dr. Michael Ambrose, Founder and CEO of CampDoc, earned his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School and is a board-certified pediatrician. He has been involved in camp and youth organizations health and wellness for over 15 years and remains devoted to continual improvement of health and safety by creating innovative solutions for nurses, athletic trainers and youth program staff. Dr. Ambrose has authored several youth program health and safety research studies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics “Improving Health and Safety at Camp” (June 2019) policy statement.
Tim Huchton is a trusted voice within the camp community. He has been working in the camp industry for over 20 years. His current role with the American Camp Association is in membership and customer development and is the point person for the work with Camps on Campus nationwide.
