ACA National Webinar - Culture & Climate: The Collective Marks of Trauma on the Identity of Camp

ACA National Webinar
Wednesday, May 29, 2024 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM   Export to iCalendar Eastern Standard Time

When we consider the thresholds people cross when entering the space we call camp, do we trace the roots of trauma beyond a person and to a group of people? The term collective trauma exposes the physiological and psychological reaction to events that affect(s) an entire segment of society. When a significant event in our life occurs, it is not something naturally existing; it is something we construct as participants within the larger whole. In this webinar, attendees will explore how cultural and climate-based trauma impact the identity of our work, as well as the MESH (+) effects on the holistic development of our well being?

Learner outcomes: (What will attendees learn upon attending this webinar?)

  • Consider how meaningful and causal relationships between previously unrelated events, structures, perceptions, and actions impact the culture(s) of summer experiences;
  • Gain insight into how you might address cultural and climate-based trauma in your summer program;
  • Learn how to support and process the indelible marks of an impactful event during summer.
