Welcome to Accreditation Office Hours from 2019 - 2020! This package of recorded on-demand videos is one of many that is part of a large library of accreditation related resources offered through ACA called the ACA Accreditation Academy - your one stop shop for learning and growing from the accreditation experience. ​

Accreditation Office Hours, which is now called Closer Looks, are designed to help you pace your preparation and learning of the standards as you lead up to the camp season. Organized by section of standards, you will have the opportunity to learn about resources available from ACA, dig deeper into each section of standards, share organizing tips, and plus hear questions and answers that were asked during past live sessions. This package does include on-demand videos that were recorded in the past however they can still be very beneficial for your preparations. It is not required that you are currently accredited or seeking accreditation to watch these videos.

This self-guided online course is designed to provide an overview of the ACA Accreditation Process.  

Every camp being visited must have at least one person who completes this online course on behalf of the camp; that person must actively assist in preparation for the accreditation visit, be engaged in on-site operations during the camp season, and participate fully in the on-site accreditation visit. For camps to receive an accreditation visit for the current season, this course must be completed no later than March 31, 2024. 

*Multiple people from a camp may take this course.  

 Objectives:   
Participants feel excited, engaged, and ready to manage the accreditation process for their camp. They know where to find and how to use information, resources, and technology provided by ACA. They can navigate the Accreditation Process Guide v.2019 to understand compliance and applicability of standards, including how to maintain accreditation through visit and non-visit years and the purpose and steps of preparing written documentation.  

Audience:   
This online course is designed for camp leaders who are preparing for accreditation visits in the upcoming season or are new to the accreditation process. The online course is also appropriate for those who are considering seeking accreditation for the first time.  

Accreditation Process Guide, 2019 Edition (updated 11/2019):   
To participate, you MUST have an Accreditation Process Guide (APG) v. 2019 (updated 11/2019). 

  • Published: Each currently accredited camp and camp seeking accreditation is provided 1 published copy of the APG. If you need this, please contact your local accreditation manager. 
  • Digital: A digital version of the APG is provided to all current fee-paying camps for each primary contact and standards contact. This is in the Accreditation Portal. If you need assistance with access, please contact your local accreditation manager. 
  • Purchase: Non-fee-paying camps (new to accreditation and have not paid yet) and camps wanting additional printed copies can purchase these through the bookstore.
